They rarely roll a one that is kept, you make your allies luckier, and you can choose to substitute your Portent rolls for things that are clutch. Now you have a Halfling that is just the luckiest caster they can possibly be. This will really be finished around level 8, and you won’t have any other ASI, but this is a gimmick build, we ain’t optimal. Now you have three times a long rest where you can roll something, dislike the roll, and choose to roll another d20, and choose whichever one you’d like. Lets you use your Lucky Racial trait for others within 30 feet of you as a reaction, but you can’t use your trait for yourself, or anyone else, until your next turn is over. In Xanathar’s Guide to Everything, there’s a Halfling racial feat, known as Bountiful Luck. Substitute whenever you might have to roll something and you need to know the result. Level two, you get Portent, which allows you to, after a long rest, roll 2 d20s. It's important to choose the Domain of Protection as a cleric to gain proficiency with Heavy. Take 1 level in Warlock, 1 in Cleric, and then continue to level up as a Wizard allowing for a unique and satisfyingly 'tanky' Wizard. whenever you roll a one, but you must take the new result. A great way to make a character with multiple 'flavors' is going with the Abjurer Thorns build. Halflings have their Lucky racial trait, which allows them to reroll a natural one for themselves. Luckiest Halfling Ever is, I believe, one of the more hilariously whimsical and relatively common “Gimmick” builds.
